Dungeons n Dragons - Weaponry by Shockbolt Dungeons n Dragons - Weaponry by Shockbolt
One of my rather unusual jobs.

I was hired to paint a sword based upon the world of Dungeons & Dragons.

A sword for a paladin of Heironeous.

*edit: Painted entirely in Photoshop, using a wacom tablet*

Pleases me so much to see a practical looking dnd weapon... That looks amazing as well! Onyx and the red copper go together like peas and carrots.

Interesting that the sword is made of copper. You expect these magical artifacts to be made out of some supernatural metal, so I actually think copper is a nice change of pace. Great work :)

This sword LOOKS magical! Most other weapon art makes the weapon look very ordinary. Good Job!

Would be cool to have them create something that I've designed, might approach them and ask
about it in the future, once I've got my graphic novel finished. I have several weapon designs for the characters in the first book that could be fun to have on the walls here.

I have however designed another sword with scabbard, that I'm waiting to receive sometime in october.

Here is the design: [link]
And these guys are the ones creating it for me: [link]

:D Wizards are cool, but semi-spell users are even cooler, such as Paladins, Druids or WarriorMages.

I actually have a Warmage and a Duskblade also and a semi inactive half dragon fighter... but you know I like my Wizard.. mainly cause he's a damn fun character to play due to his school specalization, necromancy... scared the crap out of his friends when they figured that out. (He hadn't been hiding it.. jsut you know anything less than a few ogre zombies and some people simply don't notice...).. Now he's busy trying to keep that from the party's newest addition a paladin of Tamara (homebrew campaign, we're using the normal dieties and the ones in the draconomicon).. And yes my group is very heavy into the RP side and less into the dungeon crawling side, but we're loving it. XD

Nice, makes me think of morrowind (not having played D&D..), the dwarven artifacts... even though those were probably more brass than copper
From the description i'd have imagined the orchid to be a Phalaenopsis, though, but probably just because I expected something more roundish for the shape of the pommel :)

Of course, if someone were to give a sword like that to me I'd only use it for spreading peanut butter on bread....*ahem* Magical peanut butter, ya know.
