Someone suggested to me that I should paint a series of my own versions of the most known Middle-earth weaponry, known from Tolkiens books and from rpg sourcebooks made by Iron Crown Enterprises.

This is the 4th ME weaponry painting, many more to come.

Aragorn II, 16th and last Chieftain of the Dunadain Rangerns of the North. Aragorn II is also the first King of the Reunited Kingdom: Arnor and Gondor. These are a selection of his principal items carried with him in the period prior to the journey of the fellowship. A manmade knife/dagger, a longbow, a few of his arrows and the broken sword Narsil.

Be sure to vote in my poll, You might get to decide which weapon to paint next :)

Painted in less in approx 4 hours, several layers, no reference used.

Photoshop CS 2 and Wacom Intuos3 tablet.

Do not use for any reason without written permission.

I love how you worked the piercing war arrow to have white arrows, but the broad hunting arrow to have darker, more camouflaged feathers. It's those kinds of details that make work like this stand out to those who recognize good work when they see it!

As we read in the Red Book Narsil was broken in lenght of one foot, so it was quite longer than you've painted ;)

You might be correct there friend :)
What I've done with all the weapons painted so far, is creating them how I imagine they looked like.
The feel I got from the broken Narsil was that is should be a totally useless weapon, if the blade still was over 30 cms long, it could still be wielded as a shortsword of kinds. And that wouldn't make it useless to me.

Even though the sword of Narsil is broken, the handle's good enough :D It looks great! The arrows are great, too!
