Someone suggested to me that I should paint a series of my own versions of the most known Middle-earth weaponry, known from Tolkiens books and from rpg sourcebooks made by Iron Crown Enterprises.

First off is my version of Glamdring, known as the sword of Turgon and Gandalf. Glamdring and Orcrist were nicknamed "Beater and Biter" by the Goblins of the Misty Mountains.

Glamdring is an elven magical sword made of the mithril alloy Ithilnaur(Moon-fire). It is an Orc-slaying holy weapon which glows cold blue around Orcs.

Be sure to vote in my poll, You might get to decide which weapon to paint next :)

Painted in less in approx 4 hours, several layers, no reference used.

Photoshop CS 2 and Wacom Intuos3 tablet.

Do not use for any reason without written permission.

Cool interpretation of the sword! I thought some of the swords in the movie, while cool, lacked some of the intricacy an elven blade would have. I really like this!

This is gorgeous. It'd be interesting to see this in steel (and I happen to know several custom swordsmiths who would probably jump at the chance if you're interested).

Do any of them have a website that displays their previously made blades? :)

Brenno (Brendan Olszowy) of Fable Blades at www.Fableblades.com would be your best bet. The man does absolutely outstanding work, all of his previous works are posted (there's even a section for artists who have designed swords that Brenno will forge upon request), and he does mainly fantasy stuff; in fact, he's done interpretations of Gurthang, Boromir's sword & dagger, two different Glamdrings, two different Aragorn Ranger swords, Hadhafang, Anduril, Orcrist, and Sting. I've got him in line to forge the swords that appear in my novels (minus one, but that's because he doesn't do katana style blades, which is essential to the design of the sword; albeit, that's the only thing katana like on the sword).

John Lundemo of Odin Blades at www.Odinblades.com is another option. He may not be the one to go to simply because his blades don't have the sort of ostentation Glamdring would require; his are more along the lines of historical fantasy, however, he did forge his own interpretation of the Warder sword from the Wheel of Time series, which has been adapted into a production model sword by Valiant Armoury, so there's that.

Not a problem. You have a gorgeous design; rather, designs, now that I look at them all. I'm particularly taken by the simplicity of Fallen.

By the way, this may seem out of left field, but what did you use to create these (and how, if it's a program)? I have about a dozen designs that I'd like to see like this rather than a few scribbles on graph paper.
