Painted for an art challenge over at ImagineFX's website : [link]

Theme of the challenge was "Tribute to Middle-Earth"

This is my vision of the scene after the battle with the Nazguls at Weathertop. The morgul blade fragment is working it's way up to Frodos heart..

Painted over a few evenings, no reference used. A fun thing to paint nothing more :-)

*Edit: Aragorn is not showing off his Narsil sword, it's his regular sword, the one he carried with him before Narsil was reforged*

Photoshop and a wacom intuos 3 tablet used

hey brother love your stuff would love to compare notes sometimes. I am always trying to get better and would love to learn your process. Bjornar is a good freind of mine and I love what you did with his page. A Little dark I thought but overall awesome. I love this piece too, actually I like all your work.

hurray for non movie LOTR fan art! (even though I love those too.) I love both Weathertop and Aragorn. Well done!

I totally agree! This one was one of the first that I made, looking at it now, I could do so much better if I repainted it. :)

amazing how that happens, eh? I was going back over some of my sketches and kept itching to take an eraser to it and start over... but yours is good as is too. :D

Reading the trilogy right now, LOVE it. Strider/Aragorn has got to be my favorite character so far!
The hobbits are, admittedly, kind of cute; so small xD And Aragorn looks better without a beard in my opinion.
Great job on the picture, it's amazing! *faves*

This is stunning! My favorite part of it is Weathertop in the background, and the bleak atmosphere really captures this part of the book.

This is wonderful! The atmosphere is fantastic and I really love how you did Aragorn :D My only critique would be that the sheath is a bit short for the sword.
